How OPEN.ioting works

Before connecting the device to the Internet, first download the necessary mobile application to your phone, as the installation cannot be started without it.

How OPEN.ioting works

The OPEN.ioting gate opener requires an active internet connection to function, which you can provide in two ways: via WiFi or by connecting the device directly to the network with a UTP (Ethernet) cable .

Connecting via WiFi

Necessary conditions:

  • WiFi network with internet access: both the device and the mobile phone on which you are installing the application should be connected to this network
  • The device must receive an IP address (dynamic IP address assignment must be available on the network)

When connecting to OPEN.ioting for the first time, a direct connection between the OPEN.ioting device and your mobile phone is required , so we recommend that you stand within one meter of the smart gate opener with your phone when it connects to the device. You can start setting up the device's WiFi connection by pressing the WS button .

Press and hold the WS button for 5 seconds, then release it. The IP LED next to the Ethernet port will start to pulse yellow. If the LED is not pulsing, start the process over.

The application will then guide you through the installation process, please follow the instructions there.

For the sake of completeness, the following process must be followed:

  • The pulsing IP LED indicates that it is possible to connect to the device. The application will first connect to the OPEN.ioting device via WiFi and list the WiFi networks that the device has detected.
  • Select the network you want to connect the device to and enter the corresponding WiFi password in the next step.
  • The device will then connect to the selected network and the mobile phone will reconnect to the same WiFi network to which you connected the device.
  • Finally, if the device is already available on the same WiFi network, the mobile app will assign the OPEN.ioting device to the current user.

It is important to ensure that the product has adequate WiFi signal strength, as it is equipped with an internal antenna. Do not place it in a location where radio signals may be blocked (e.g. do not install it in a metal box).

Connecting via Ethernet cable

Necessary conditions:

  • Internet connection to the device via Ethernet port
  • The device must receive an IP address (dynamic IP address assignment must be available on the network)

If these conditions are met, the IP LED next to the Ethernet connector will light up yellow.

  • Connect your mobile phone to the same WiFi network on which you installed the application.

Open the mobile app.

The application searches for the device on the network.

By clicking the setup button, the mobile app will assign the OPEN.ioting device to the current user.

The application will guide you through the installation process, please follow the instructions there.
